Secure Dog Field
Slamseys Farm, Blackley Lane, Great Notley, Braintree, Essex
A family farm in the Essex countryside, just south of Great Notley where you can exercise your dog in the Secure Dog Field, buy a Christmas tree or walk along the Public Footpaths.
Bring your dog for exercise and play in the secure Dog Walking Field at Slamseys.
The field is fun for all dogs, but particularly suitable for nervous or reactive dogs. It’s an ideal place to bring your dog if it has more energy than you do.
There is only one booking for each time slot, which means that you have the field to yourself for your booked session.
Christmas Tree Barn
Opens December 2022
Pull on your Christmas jumper, round up the family and come to the farm to choose your Christmas tree from the hundreds of trees displayed in The Christmas Tree Barn.
The yard is clean (no need for wellies unless there’s snow on the ground) and there is level access into the barn making it easy for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
Please don’t bring your dog into The Christmas Tree Barn, no matter how well behaved, unless it is an Assistance Dog.
Slamseys Farm has been the home and business base for the Wheaton family for over fifty years and Jack Wheaton and Beth Paterson are the third generation to work on the farm.
Jack is responsible for the farming operations and the growing and selling of Christmas trees while Beth is in charge of the Dog Exercise Field.

We are thrilled that everything is coming together for Slamseys Dog Field. It’s taken a long while to pull together our ideas for the Dog Field, get planning permission and finally start making this a great place for people to bring their dog for exercise and play. This week the 1.8m high fencing and secure […]
Jack has been out on the mower this month cutting back the vegetation on the public footpaths, which we hope will make it easier for you to walk across the farm and enjoy the countryside. If you spot a grassy verge that hasn’t been mown then it isn’t a path to walk on but probably […]
