The June Chop

cutting public footpath

The countryside is looking wonderful at the moment with the wild roses in the hedgerows and cow parsley on the field margins in full bloom. The grass has grown so tall in places that it’s become difficult to walk through, so Jack has been out today cutting some of the grass along the public footpaths to make walking easier.

Not all the field edges are public rights of way, so these are left to grow undisturbed for the benefit of wildlife with no public access. This shouldn’t be a problem because the farm is criss crossed by public rights of way, which can be used by anyone at any time of day. The only restrictions are that footpaths are for walkers only and bridleways can be used by walkers, horse riders and bicycle riders.
